Sabine Veit
Sabine Veit, an award-winning entrepreneur and business professional, has held memberships with multiple professional organizations including the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce, the Baking Association of Canada (BAC), the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA), and the National Restaurant Association (US).
Throughout Sabine’s career in the baking business, she received multiple recognitions including the Vaughan World Class Excellence Award and the 2001 American Taste Award of Excellence. She was also a finalist for a 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and a regional finalist for a 1999 Canadian Women Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Sabine launched Backerhaus Veit Ltd. in 1987 and was the president for over 30 years. Backerhaus Veit Ltd., a baking business, initially included 2 retail bakeries and a 7,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. Under her guidance, sales quickly doubled year over year and the continued success led to a move to a 35,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in 1990. By 2014 and with an additional $20 million capital investment, the business expanded its operations to a 150,000-square-foot facility. In 2018, Sabine sold the successful business to Swander Pace Capital (SPC).
Sabine’s passion includes nature preservation and supporting biodiversity via land and wildlife conservation and regenerative farming practices. Residing in Toronto, she enjoys spending time with her family.
